Auction is a fast and efficient means of clearance of all lots with maximum competition being attracted on every item offered for sale and considerable revenue being generated at the same time.

However, Auction is not necessarily all things to all situations. Specialised items where there is limited demand or a limited number of specialist interest buyers, an alternate means may be more appropriate.

Sales by Expressions of Interest or Tender

These modes of sale are logical where high value, specialised assets with a very limited market are to be sold. The process offers both vendor and buyer flexibility, in terms of conditions and options, that cannot be accommodated in the Auction environment.

Offers received remain confidential and are capable of enhancement as negotiations permit. Importantly, the value of the asset is not depreciated by public disclosure of unacceptable offers made during the process of negotiations.

Expressions of interest, including offers to purchase, is a less formal means of sale and has gained greater acceptance and popularity in various markets due to a perceived degree of distrust in the Tender system.

Sales by Private Treaty

Most appropriate for Sales in circumstances of urgency or necessity, or convenience where conditions of the "willing buyer - willing seller" prevail.
